The Curriculum

Your IB education is made up of three years: one preparatory year called the Pre-Diploma year (Pre-DP) and two IB Diploma Programme years (IBDP).

Pre Diploma Year
The first year prepares you for the challenge of IBDP. The different subjects offered will help you choose which subjects you will continue studying in the Diploma Programme. Some subject choices in Pre-DP will also help you with courses required for particular Swedish University admissions.

IBDP Years 2 and 3
During these two years you will follow the curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The five subject groups below are offered and you choose one subject from each group (and one extra subject from either group 2, 3 or 4). All subjects are studied for two years: three subjects at Higher Level (240 hours) and three subjects at Standard Level (150 hours). Since the IB programme strives to develop the whole person, the curriculum includes three additional requirements:

TOK: Theory of Knowledge
This course aims at developing critical thinking skills and examines connections between the different bases of knowledge.

CAS: Creativity Activity Service
The CAS Programme encourages students to participate in school- and community-based activities.

Extended Essay
An in-depth study intended to promote high-level research and writing skills. It is an excellent preparation for further studies and an opportunity to explore a topic that is of particular interest to the student!
