About Us

The International School of the Stockholm region (ISSR) is a publically funded English speaking school founded by the City of Stockholm in response to the growing demand for a truly international education. ISSR, formerly known as IB School South, became an IB World School in 1999 and has been authorized to offered the Diploma Programme (DP) to both local and international students since then.

Since 2012 the school has offered the Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme and became an accredited World School in 2015. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that ISSR believes is important for our students.

ISSR is built on an atmosphere where intellectual growth, personal reflection and international mindedness are the core concern of everyone. Our primary goal is to prepare our students for higher education as we also prepare them for life. ISSR adheres to the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes of study:

  • Diploma Programme (DP), ages 16-19
  • Middle Years Programme (MYP), ages 12-16
  • Primary Years Programme (PYP), ages 5-11

International Baccalaureate (IB) is a non-profit mission-driven foundation committed to providing a high quality and internationally minded education. IB works with schools in more than 140 countries educating 1,000,000 students worldwide.
